We are a friendly bunch of local runners who meet a couple of times a week for a group jog in or around Westbury.
At every session there will be at least two separate organised running groups, each led by a qualified run leader. One group accommodates the faster and more serious runners and the other caters for those who prefer to run at a gentler pace. Each session lasts around an hour in total, comprising of a short warm up, followed by a steady run lasting approximately 50 minutes and finally some stretching to cool down and help prevent injuries.
Twice a year we also provide a 10-week "Couch-to-5k" program for complete beginners.
Come along on Monday's & Wednesdays @ 6:30pm inside the Leigh Park Community Centre on Leigh Park Way (near the Tesco Express).
Most people are pleasantly surprised by the progress they make, and also by the social aspect (that can morph into the occasional "Pub run")
Each session is only £2, and your first session is completely free of charge.
Free Car Parking available on-site. Plus an additional free car park approximately 100 metres away.
Start / Finish conveniently located near The Hollies Inn for when you need to rehydrate.
We're blessed to have such a beautiful and varied running "playground" surrounding us. Whether it's trails or roads, hills or flat. Our running routes take us up above the Westbury White Horse, around Dilton Marsh, across the fields to Upton Scudamore, to name but a few...
We meet in the upper meeting room at the Hall. The Hall is booked from 6pm, but people usually start to arrive around 6:15pm. There we register for the evening and pay £2. Then the run leaders for the evening will announce the different groups going out (normally a slower Green group and a slightly faster Blue group) and roughly where each group will be going.
Run Groups head out and begin with brief warm up during the first 5 minutes of the run. During the run we run at the speed of slowest with the faster runners having the option to go ahead & looping back behind the group. This means that we remain effectively together for the whole hour.
When we arrive back at the Community Hall, your run leader will take you through a 5 minute group stretch before ending the session.
